Description
The Family Services Department – Early Learning Support Division Presents: The Inclusive Classroom: Distinguishing Between Typical and Atypical Development in Children from Birth to Five This training workshop equips early childhood professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to support inclusive learning environments by understanding typical and atypical development in children from birth to five years old. Participants explore key developmental domains—including cognitive, social-emotional, communication, physical, and adaptive development—and learn how developmental milestones generally unfold during the early years. The workshop emphasizes how to recognize early signs that a child may be experiencing developmental delays or differences, while also reinforcing the wide range of what is considered “typical” development. Through real-world examples, case scenarios, and interactive discussion, participants gain confidence in observing children’s behavior, play, and interactions in classroom and childcare settings. By the end of the training, attendees leave with a clearer understanding of developmental variability, practical strategies to foster inclusion, and an increased ability to create supportive, developmentally appropriate environments that promote positive outcomes for young children and their families. This 4-hour workshop can be applied toward the 10-hour annual in-service training requirement from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Lunch will be provided for a $12 fee***** Please Read the Instructions in the Course to Order & Pay for Lunch.
